Wishlist Weapons (Part One)

Here's Part One of a two-part (or maybe three) series on weapons I would like to see included in future updates to Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Keep in mind that this is just wishful thinking and graphic design: the only possible way these would make it into the game is through modding for the PC version or DICE puts them in. Speculation is always fun, though. Join in and let me know what you wish for.

HANDGUN
OK, so the MAC-10 (technically M-10) isn't really a handgun. It's designated a submachine gun, but I chose it as a handgun replacement because of its size and short range. It fills the role of auto pistol, so you can waste fools at a moment's notice and not have to worry about headshots. Though meticulous marksmen may want to look elsewhere for a sidearm. All classes can equip this weapon. Spray and pray, baby.

SUBMACHINE GUN
The P90 is my favorite real-world firearm. Why? I suspect it's mostly because of GoldenEye 007. But you'll find the P90 all throughout television, movies, and video games. It's very distinctive, from the way it's designed to the unusual, top-loading magazine. Did you know that the rounds have to rotate 45 degrees before firing? Weird, huh? Anyway, the Engineer class gets this one. Gameplay-wise, the P90 trades accuracy for power and speed. The 50-round magazine makes up for all those missed targets, however.

BATTLE RIFLE
I don't have any particular attachment to the FN FAL. It's quite similar to the G3 series in real life, so I needed to tweak it for gameplay purposes. It has a higher capacity magazine (30 rounds) and fires in 3-round bursts. It can be equipped by all classes, so it rounds out the all-purpose guns nicely.

ASSAULT RIFLE

Ah, the famous FAMAS. If it's good enough for Solid Snake, it's good enough for me. Although I can't help but wonder why Europeans seem so fascinated with bullpup weapons. Unless you need to make a really short gun without sacrificing barrel length, I fail to see why the bullpup configuration is necessary. Put a three-round burst through your enemy's skull, and they'll be saying, "Sacre bleu!" Available for the Assault class only.
